Family Values
Even from its humble beginnings in founder Peter Weckerle’s
small garage in Peissenberg, Germany, Weckerle Cosmetics was intended
to lead the industry in providing viable solutions that last. With
little more than a dream, the technical know how, and the motivation
to create something larger than himself Peter Weckerle began work
on what would soon become the world’s first fully automatic
lipstick filling machine. By 1974 this machine was sold and the seed
that would one day develop into a multinational corporate entity began
to grow. With technology like this at his disposal, Weckerle Cosmetics
soon began to get noticed, but this was only the beginning. Peter
Weckerle understood that for a cosmetics company to truly flourish
they had to always be on the leading edge of innovation in every aspect
of the company from product design to research and development and
by 1977 the patent for the first mechanical pencil was filed.
Generations Of Quality
As his machinery became more popular so did his corporate development
and the seventies marked the formation of a new workshop in Peissenberg
and a sales office in Starnberg. By the early eighties, the idea to
diversify hit and Weckerle began filling lipsticks by orders, becoming
one of the world’s only true full-service providers of both
cosmetic machinery and products. But the eighties also marked a new
change for the company: Peter’s son Thomas began his first apprenticeship
as a mechanical engineer, starting from the bottom-up to learn the
ins and outs of his father’s successful business. With Thomas’s
help the company soon saw fast-paced development with numerous production
plants and sales offices spreading worldwide, and by the early nineties
the stage was set for the innovation that led to the development of
the word’s fastest tube- filling machine. With the advent of
plastic moulding, tube-in-tube technology, and a variety of industry-defining
inventions, Weckerle soared to new heights in the nineties, supplying
over 85% of all lipsticks in the world.
For Generations To Come
With the turn of the century, Thomas Weckerle, now fully seasoned
by years of experience in all aspects of the company, took over as
CEO of the Weckerle Group and began shaping his father’s vision
into the giant it is today. While Peter Weckerle was a tough act to
follow, Thomas understood the spirit of true innovation meant constant
attention to not only the latest trends but to building a staff who
sought to be the very best in the industry. Thomas knew that only
a staff that strove for true excellence could really achieve his father’s
innovative vision, and under Thomas’s leadership the Weckerle
brand has thrived—setting trends instead of following them in
a highly competitive environment.
Today Weckerle Cosmetics stands as a testament to what a true innovator’s
spirit can accomplish, and from a simple garage in Germany came a
cluster of factories that can produce an entire range of cosmetic
products. Now Weckerle has grown into a major corporate force with
their own laboratory facilities, in-house plastic moulding, packaging
design team, and Global Marketing Bureau, providing the world’s
leading brands with the entire spectrum of high quality products they
can trust for years to come. For the future, Thomas Weckerle proudly
continues the legacy his father began over 30 years ago—staying
true to the Weckerle motto: innovation never ends.
